The Rural Lung Unit is a specialist respiratory practice that diagnoses and manages complex respiratory illnesses. Our practice includes a full lung function laboratory which includes testing such as spirometry, diffusion and body box testing. We also perform bronchial challenge testing for the diagnosis of asthma. One other test provided is the cardiopulmonary exercise test for checking VO2 max and diagnose undifferentiated patients with shortness of breath.
The practice consults between the hours of 10am until 4pm Mondays to Thursdays. The office is open for enquiries Monday to Thursday 9am to 4.30pm and Friday 9am to 2.30pm.
Our respiratory physician is Associate Professor Adriaan Venter who has been in clinical practice as a respiratory physician since 2000. He is also attached to the Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital, the Calvary Private Hospital and is a senior lecturer at the University of NSW, Rural Medical Campus.
